            Jessie A. Martinez

            Picture
One of my fellow District 5890 Ambassadorial Scholars and UST alumni.  Jessie has a great and very informative website.  Jessie is studying in Santiago, Chile and served as Vice President of the Rotaract Club of River Oaks when I first got involved with Rotary.  He spent a semester in Washington, D.C. working for the Department of Commerce, which you can read more about on his website.

            Renee McKeon

            Picture
Renee is another 5890 Scholar and is also a grad student at UST.  I was my pleasure to work with Renee on a variety of projects for the MicroCredit Program at UST before I graduated.  Renee has a great website, sharing her experiences in Lima, Peru.

            Rotary District 5890

            Picture
My sponsor district and home base for my large Rotary family.  District 5890 is a collection of some of the most good-hearted people I have ever met.

            Rotary Club of Kingwood

            Picture
My sponsor club.  Without the support of the Kingwood Rotary Club, especially my sponsors Charlie and Tommie Buscemi, I wouldn't have been where I am now.  Great club with fun people, and located right where I grew up.

            Rotaract Club of River Oaks

            Picture
This group of future Rotarians is made up of college students and young professionals who seek to make a difference in the world, while enjoying some great fellowship.  Great group of passionate people and I highly recommend for all you college students and young professionals out there.

My very friendly and welcoming host club.  I am blessed to also have a very hospitable and helpful host counselor, Jorge Garcia, while I am in Buenos Aires.

            University of St. Thomas

            Picture
I love my alma mater, and highly recommend it for all those interested in International Studies or a host of other areas of study.  My participation in the Honors Program enhanced the already strong liberal arts education I received.  During my years there, I was involved in the MicroCredit Program(which I plan to write further upon in my site), the Student Government Association, Residence Life Staff, as well as other organizations.  2009-2010 Ambassadorial Scholars Jessie Martinez and Renee McKeon, as well as 2010-2011 Scholar Miguel Salcedo are affiliated with the university as well, as an alum, MLA student, and International Studies undergraduate respectively.

            St. Thomas High School

            Picture
Where I spent some of the most formative years of my life.  A great all-boys high school located in Houston, TX with a strong alumni network.  I look forward to staying involved with STH throughout my life.  Go Eagles!

North American Educational Initiatives Foundation (NAEIF)

            Picture
I met the NAEIF founder and president, Ted Wills, at the Fr. Young Social Justice Institute summer conference in 2008.  We stayed in conference over the time ahead, and I was honored to receive the 2009 Robert H. Jackson Leadership Award in Dec. 2009.  I hope to work with Ted and NAEIF on future collaborative efforts.

            Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI)

            Picture
CHLI provided me a unique and life-changing opportunity to work in the nation's capital as an intern in the summer of 2007.  We did a variety of neat excursions and visits, including interaction with senators and congressmen.  While there, I worked for the Ford Motor Company Fund and the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility.  The Executive Director, Octavio Hinojosa Mier, and the Program Director, Yisel Cabrera, designed a great internship program.  They have since developed an even more intensive and in depth internship and fellowship program.  CHLI has continued to grow under Octavio's direction and I am very proud to be an alumnus of one of their programs.

Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR)

            Picture
My work as an intern for HACR in DC was a very rewarding experience.  The CEO and President, Carlos Orta, gave me great experience and guidance during my time there and has since invited me to other HACR events, which have served as great networking and professional opportunities.  HACR has expanded its reach and reputation since I interned there in 2007.

            NLV International

            Picture
The CEO and founder of this company, Jon P. Vague, gave me my first exposure to the world of international business and the energy sector.  As an intern over two seperate periods, I learned much about the energy business and international project structuring.
